Local area facilities and amenities
Fitzgibbon Chase is surrounded by excellent community facilities including local schools, excellent public transport facilities, shopping centres, entertainment, health and fitness, cafes and local clubs.
Schools and Education
Whilst there isn’t a school in Fitzgibbon Chase, the area is very well serviced with existing primary and secondary schools within two kilometres of the community.
Shopping and Business
The future Fitzgibbon Chase neighbourhood centre could accommodate a range of retail or commercial uses with a preference for some 'shop-top' residential. It is envisaged that the retail centre will include a convenience store and potentially food and service outlets.
Fitzgibbon Chase is also minutes from Chermside Westfield Shopping Centre and a short drive to Centro Taigum.
The eagerly awaited $4 million Lavender Place extension project, a joint venture between Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) is now underway.
Fitzgibbon Chase and surrounding area residents will have new 'kiss'n'ride facilities, a bus stop and local bus services and dedicated pedestrian and cyclist pathways direct to Carseldine Railway Station by the end of May 2012.
The Community Centre is underway with the laying of the foundation stone on 19 November 2010. When complete, the centre will be a focal point for the community living in and around Fitzgibbon Chase. It will provide a venue for community organisations and social enterprises, offering community development activities from employment and training programs through to yoga and art classes, and playgroups for children. Completion of the centre is expected to happen in mid-2012.
