Zubayr, his wife Naima, and their daughter Zayna moved into their 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house at Fitzgibbon Chase in June 2013.
"We moved to Queensland from Western Australia in June 2013 and we needed to quickly find a place to live. We started looking in newly-built developments because we've always thought they are laid out more thoughtfully than older suburbs, with houses that are more liveable because of how new they are.
"My first priority was to find somewhere with a lot of open space. When we visited Fitzgibbon Chase for the first time, we were really impressed with the open feel, and how close and accessible the parks were from the houses. We don't have to go far to enjoy the open feel either – one of the parks is right across the road from our house.
"I also wanted to find a neighbourhood that felt safe and was family friendly. I quickly learned that Fitzgibbon Chase has community groups such as the Neighbourhood Watch, and often gets together for barbeques and functions at the community centre.
"I'm an IT Consultant and I work in the city, so the proximity to the train line is very important for me for my daily commute to work. We're also very close to Chermside shopping centre, and we often head over there on the weekends to do all of our shopping.
"We looked at houses in many Brisbane suburbs – Bald Hills, Carseldine, Taigum, Morningside, Carindale – but we couldn't find the same combination of facilities, house quality, open space, family-friendly environment and price anywhere else."
