Earthy ambitions
Northside Chronicle 18-Nov-2009
HOUSES are yet to be built but already the Fitzgibbon Chase development has earned top marks for its commitment to environmental sustainability.
The development off Roghan Rd is the first to receive full marks under the Urban Development Institute of Australia's EnviroDevelopment version 2:0.
The site has been recognised for its sustainable development projects and Urban Land Development Authority chief executive officer Paul Eagles could not be happier. "The program recognises that we're using open green space, energy efficient house design and recycling strategies," he said.
"The Fitzgibbon Chase is the first to ever be certified under this version of EnviroDevelopment, which requires even more stringent standards be met.
"Once completed the Fitzgibbon Chase development will have 1700 homes along with parks and 40ha of bushland. UDIA Queensland chief executive officer Brian Stewart said the new standards were developed in response to changes to Queensland legislation and community expectations.
"The new standards ensure EnviroDevelopment will continue to inspire and reward high-performing sustainable developments,"Mr Stewart said.
